Special guests

Through collaboration with individual artists and partnership with the University of Minnesota, St Benedict/St John’s University and others, Teatro del Pueblo has sponsored presentations of recognized Latin American theater troupes in Minnesota. Some of the works and artists are included below.

Aviñón Teatro (Peru) “Isabel desterrada en Isabel” by Juan Radrigán, Directed by Carlos Vargas Salgado, featuring Nelly Pilares, and  “Los Sueños de America”  Based on the book of the same title by Peruvian author Eduardo González Viaña and adapted for the stage by Carlos Vargas Salgado. Featuring Nelly Pilares and Carlos Vargas, incorporates shadow puppetry and video imagery. Presented as part of the Policital Theatre Festival.

Teatro Malayerba (Ecuador) “La Razón Blindada” De Arístides Vargas. Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series 2014.

Contraelviento Teatro (Quito-Ecuador) “La Flor de la Chukirawa” Directed by Patricio Vallejo-Aristizábal. Featuring Veronica Falconi, Andrea Diaz and Daniel Gayasamín. Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series.

Carlos Satizábal (Colombia) ¨Nuevas Masculinidades: Una conferencia de Actor¨. Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series 2014.

Teatro La Máscara (Colombia) ¨Los perfiles de la espera y Casa Matriz¨ Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series / The Political Theatre Festival.

Rapsoda Teatro (Colombia) Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series.

Tramaluna Teatro,  Antígonas: Tribunal de Mujeres (Colombia) Presented in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Studies Series, 2015.
