Video / Animation Intern Opportunity

Position Title: Video/Animation Intern

Stipend: $1800

Time Commitment:  10 hours per week for 12 weeks, January-April

Reports To: Artistic Director and Production Coordinator

Location: Remote/Zoom

Organization Description:

Teatro del Pueblo was founded in 1992 by a group of Latinx artists and community members on the West side of Saint Paul, in the heart of the city’s Latinx population. Teatro del Pueblo is currently the only professional Latinx  theater with both an established touring and artistic main stage program in the Upper Midwest.

Our mission  is to promote cultural pride in the Latinx community, to develop and support Latinx talent, while educating the community at large about Latinx culture and promoting cultural diversity in the arts.

POSITION SUMMARY

Teatro del Pueblo seeks a visual art (sketch) background college Sophomore, Junior or Senior to create a series of short 15- 20 second animations and short interviews to promote our Latinx podcast, Coco’s Barrio. Need storyboard experience and animation program experience.

This position offers an opportunity for someone with animation training to gain hands-on experience, acquire new skills, and learn about the nonprofit sector. The intern will participate in each phase of animation, including conception, creating first drafts,  and  finalizing each piece.

Educational Goals:

            • Gain general knowledge of the needs of a local non-profit organization

            • Develop animation skills further and build resume

            • Gain familiarity with unique needs of a Latinx theater

            • Develop valuable community connections in the arts sector.

Qualifications:

Desired:

•Experience in 1-2 of these programs would be a  plus: Procreate, Adobe Animation and Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or iMovie, Photoshop

•Storyboarding experience

•Some Camera/Lighting experience          

Required:

            •Excellent sketch skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks

            • Awareness and respect for diversity

            •Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers and staff

            • Ability to meet deadlines

            • Ability to maintain confidentiality

            • Preferred but not necessary: some animation experience with other clients.
